Ship of Asian origin built in reed
This boat is also known as Pirate Junk bacause it was armed with cannons.
In the eighteenth century it was widespread in the area of Guangzhou in South China Sea about 140 km north-west of Hong Kong, used as a transport boat.
Originally sails were in bamboo mats, then replaced by cotton sheets. The peculiarity sails are bamboo canes, which are used to fold on themselves by reducing the opposition to the wind.
