Bragozzo

In the Adriatic sea bragozzi were among of the most popular boats, it was possible to see them from Venice to the coast of the former Yugoslavia.

Bragozzo is a perfect boat for lagoon, with its flat bottom there are no problem in shallow water. It was used for fishing along the coast or to transport goods and people.

Although it was once widespread, today few remain, mostly well-preserved and reworked by enthusiasts who use them for leisure or for sightseeing.

Its shape and its dimensions were different depending on the shipyard that built and ranged from 12 to 16 meters.

Currently you can find detailed information on the construction of these boats at the naval museum of Venice and Chioggia, outside of the latter is moored a copy restored and used for historical reconstructions.

This model has been realized starting from the original construction plans, provided by my friend Marco Tiozzo, the captain of Chioggia with whom I made some pleasant trips around the lagoon with his bragozzo "Ulisse" (For information: www.giteinlaguna.com o [email protected]). I am very grateful to this person, because these construction plans were the means and the inspiration for this work.
